The architects of the building is Edward Cullinan Architects, which as soon as November 2012 changed their name to Cullinan Studios. The studio was founded in 1965 by Ted Cullinan, it is based in Islington in the northern part of London.
Ted Cullinan was born in England in 1932 and has been educated at Cambridge University, the Architectural Association and the University of California, Berkley.
Upon graduation he worked for Denys Lasdun where he designed the residential building for University of East Anglia before setting up his own cooperative practice in 1965.
During his many years of architecture, Ted Cullinan has allways been interested in drawing susatinable buildings. Not only in the way that the building is "green" but also trying to blend the buildings with it's surroundings, much like the case with Fountains Abbey Visitor Centre. This has somewhat become his architectural style which reflects the buildings from Edward Cullinan Architects.
Ted Cullinan has recieved a numerous of prestigefull awards, e.g. elected as a Royal Academician in 1989, the gold medal from the Royal Institute of British Architect's (RIBA) in 2008 and he was made a Royal Designer of Industry by the RSA in 2010.
